Dear friends,
Our first few weeks of the new year held the delight of fresh snowfall, a couple mild cases of the flu, and the deluge of unsettling news pouring out from the newest administration.
My attention is often rapt by it all, but the red tail hawk swooping through my backyard doesn’t seem to mind. Nor does the ermine I see occasionally. They interrupt my worry with beauty, rerouting my attention towards winter’s goodness. I’m comforted by their presence. Still, I’ve spent a few dark hours of the morning holding my youngest in my arms and praying for mercy, for joy, for wisdom.
